This is a sponge-type polishing pad, similar to an Abralon pad.

Why use a polishing pad?
They are used for various purposes, but here are some common examples:

◎ When the ball isn't rolling well
◎ When the hook's reaction doesn't match your expectations
◎ When you want to change the hook's reaction

◎ For dealing with oily lanes

In terms of usability, the sponge itself is slightly firmer compared to Abralon.
When conforming the pad to the ball's curve for polishing, applying a little more pressure allows for smoother work.
