A revelation in the style of a traditional sugigasa (reed hat)! I thought this was a revolutionary parasol and recently purchased it for gardening, but I've only used it twice.

It covers the shoulders, so it's definitely cooler than just a hat, but the mechanism requires inserting a rod into a central hole to open and close it, which requires finger strength.
It's difficult for me as an elderly woman (not impossible, but), and it's a hassle to always ask my husband for help, so I've only used it twice. I'm selling it because I don't need it anymore, given the heat where I can't even water my plants until after sunset.

I recommend this for men who are fishing or walking their dogs. It's a great idea product because it allows you to work more efficiently than watering with one hand while holding a parasol. I think it's fine for people with normal finger strength. If you find even a plastic bottle cap difficult to open, I don't recommend it. For the record, my family can open and close it without issue.
