140 Vintage Aurora Borealis Crystal Beads 6mm 8mm
Mid-Century vintage Aurora Borealis (AB) crystal glass multi-strand necklace, which dates back to the late 1950s or 1960s. The shifting, rainbow-like iridescence on the faceted beads is called an Aurora Borealis finish. Swarovski developed this process in 1955 alongside fashion designer Christian Dior by applying a thin metallic layer to glass facets. The Clasp: The ornate, rectangular silver-tone slide or box clasp is typical of high-quality costume jewelry from that era. DIY Restringing If you enjoy crafting, you can re-string this yourself using a flexible, nylon-coated jewelry wire (such as Bealon or Beadalon) or a heavy-duty silk thread. You will need crimp beads to lock the wires into the existing vintage clasp loops and a pair of jewelry pliers. You could rearrange the beads, make 2 necklaces and matching earrings or coordinate other stones and make several. Note pictures. 80 are 6mm, 60 are 8mm
