Negotiated | Contrabass Bow | German Bow | Sugito
This is a German-style double bass bow purchased from a string instrument specialty store in 2013.
SUGITO BOW #500 German Bow
Engraved: sugito
Stick: Pernambuco
Frog: Ebony
In the current product lineup, it is considered to be ranked above the stan-1 and slightly below the stan-A.
I used it as my main bow for about 4 years, then its usage frequency decreased, and I haven't used it for the past 5 years.
I used it for string ensembles, orchestras, and wind ensembles.
There are minor scratches and dirt.
The stick's camber appears to be good. I believe there is no damage that affects the bow's performance, such as warping or major scratches.
I have not used special techniques that could damage the bow, such as col legno.
I test played it for this listing, and the playing feel is the same as before, with no signs of deterioration.
Subjectively, here are my impressions of the bow's characteristics:
Feel when holding: Light
Resilience: Average, feels weaker than bows in the ¥400,000 class
Control at the frog: Good
Control at the tip: Feels duller than at the frog, difficult to apply weight
Volume: Average, not loud
Articulation: Not fast, on the softer side
Tone: Soft and bright
The hair was replaced at a string instrument workshop 5 years ago. I have not played it since the hair was replaced. The hair volume is sufficient, and it is in playable condition.
However, the hair has stretched, so please consider rehairing if necessary.
I have the impression that rehairing might slightly change the playing feel.
A bow case and used POPS rosin are included as shown in the photos. Both are in usable condition, so you should be able to play immediately.
The rosin is not in good condition. Please consider it as a bonus item.
It will be wrapped in bubble wrap, placed in the case, and the case will also be protected with bubble wrap for shipping.
