This is for those who cannot easily visit Mt. Ikoma Hōzan-ji Temple, which is located on the mountaintop and has many stairs.
Hōzan-ji Temple, which enshrines Daishō Kankiten (Shōten), has been deeply revered since ancient times, particularly by Osaka merchants, as a deity of business. Even today, the temple is bustling with numerous worshippers on the 1st and 16th of every month, which are the Shōten festival days, especially on the 1st of each month in the early morning as the month changes.
It is famous as a sacred site for Shōten worship, with prayers offered by the Imperial family of Kyoto, the Tokugawa Shogunate of Edo, and the Yanagisawa family, lords of the Koriyama domain.
It is also said to be a training ground opened by En no Gyōja in 655, and legend has it that Kōbō Daishi also trained here. At that time, it was called Toshidasan Daishōmudō-ji Temple. It is said to have been later revived by the monk Tanka Risshi.
