Up for auction/sale is a beautiful mid-century icon of American Western and dress fashion. This is a 100% authentic 1960s John B. Stetson Open Road style fur felt hat, custom retailed through the historic Shudde Bros. hatters in Houston, Texas. Interior Condition (Excellent / Near-Mint): The interior of this hat is remarkably clean and has been preserved beautifully. Sweatband: The leather sweatband is soft, entirely pliable, and firmly stitched with no dry rotting or cracking. Gold Embossing: The crisp gold leaf printing on the leather is fully intact on all sides. It reads: XXX Stetson (positioned at the forehead), Shudde Bros Houston, and John B. Stetson Company 3X Beaver. Tags: Features the original black paper size 7 tag and a separate white factory Long Oval tag tucked behind the rear satin bow. Liner: The white satin liner is clean, bright, and completely encased in its original protective factory clear plastic oil-shield cover featuring the printed Stetson graphic image. Exterior Condition & Flaws (Please Read Carefully): The Felt: The gray/silverbelly 3X Beaver fur felt body is structurally rock-solid, firm, and holds its classic shape perfectly. Spotting / Discoloration: Please review the photos carefully. There is vintage beige/tan spotting present on every side of the crown, as well as a few marks on the top and underside of the brim.
