ALEXANDER
MAINZ
B♭ Single
French Horn
This is a B♭ single French horn from Alexander, a manufacturer that can be considered top-tier in the world of French horns.
I have played many horns from various manufacturers with numerous mouthpieces, but as I have fewer opportunities to play the horn, I am listing it for sale for someone to cherish.
I have previously sold many horns and mouthpieces, and I have a considerable passion for horns.
Personally, I felt that by combining it with Alexander mouthpieces sizes 3, 4, 5, 6, and 9, I could produce a classical tone.
Depending on the player, I felt that mouthpieces with a larger inner diameter and a U-cup tended to produce a somewhat blurred sound, so at times it required quite a firm embouchure.
Even with a firm embouchure, the instrument itself has a deep resonance, producing a beautiful tone.
Judging from the way the tubing is wound and the construction of the rotary valves, I believe this is an older model horn.
Perhaps due to the way the tubing enters from the leadpipe, which differs from other manufacturers' horns, the tone has a deep resonance.
It is likely made of gold brass, giving it a refined and mellow sound.
The winding and the angle from the leadpipe to the bell flare are well-executed, allowing even those with a smaller physique to hold it compactly. I believe it suits the Japanese physique well.
There are no signs of material stress, it plays well, and the intonation points are well-defined.
Although I cannot be certain, it feels lightweight, and I believe it is easier to play and handle than single horns from other manufacturers.
As there are scratches, dirt, and dents as shown in the product images, I believe this is an excellent horn for junior high, high school, or university students, or individuals who are purchasing their first personal horn, or as a secondary horn for outdoor performances.
I believe the slide tubes and rotary valves are in good condition.
The clasps on the case are broken, but the outer zipper closes, so it is usable.
For long-distance transport, it would be safer to use a different case.
The above are my personal opinions, and perceptions may vary from person to person, so please understand.
