C.S.Willson CS231GB
This is a Wilson, a manufacturer famous for euphoniums.
(Reference current new price: approx. 1.7 million yen)
It has an American shank.
I am listing it after finishing my year-end performance.
A current professional player, who is my junior and played on the same stage during a concert, test-played it and gave it his seal of approval, stating that the tone, intonation, and condition are all excellent.
I had a reliable repairman perform a full cleaning of all tubes, adjust the rotors, remove as many dents as possible (several locations), solder 3 locations (the mouthpiece receiver detached twice during practice, for a total of 5 locations), and replace the hex screw on the thumb rotor. The condition has improved significantly since purchase (I also spent a considerable amount of money on this), and it is ready to play immediately.
*The screw for adjusting the angle of the thumb lever was completely stripped when I purchased it, so it has been replaced by a repairman.
*The case is not the original manufacturer's case.
Below are quotes from the previous owner's comments, marked with ●:
● I have played it evenly across 4 octaves, from F to pedal F. I believe it is in a state where it is easy to play from high notes to low notes.
● Being a Geyer wrap and featuring Wilson's unique ROTAX rotor technology, the airflow is very smooth.
● I believe the tone combines the warmth of gold brass with the clarity of nickel silver. It has been versatile, from bright fortissimo to warm, enveloping tones.
Points to note:
● From the initial state, the main tuning slide does not fit completely. I believe this does not affect playing. (I confirmed with a musical instrument store, and it does not seem to be a replacement for another instrument's slide. The main tuning slide has an insert tube that is said to have the effect of clarifying the sound spot. Personally, I felt it sounded better this way, so I have left it as is. (Please remove it if you do not need it.)
● It is meticulously handcrafted one by one by skilled craftsmen in a quiet town full of Swiss nature.
The rotors use ROTAX rotors, which minimize air loss and achieve a smooth airflow.
Unfortunately, test playing is prohibited by Mercari's regulations.
