This samue was custom-made as a special order item using Kyoto Nishijin-ori Fuutsu Omeshi fabric for unlined and summer wear. It is a masterpiece.
It is woven using only black and white threads, so the front has stripes and the back is black.

Fuutsu-ori (double weave): A type of double weave. By using different colored warp and weft threads, the front and back weaves of the fabric are alternately exchanged according to the pattern, resulting in the same pattern appearing on both sides with contrasting colors. Fuutsu. Fuu.
