B71 Masahiro Katayama Creation, Genuine Tortoiseshell Maki-e Obi Clasp
This is an obi-dome (kimono sash ornament) by Masahiro Katayama, a Makie artist from Kanazawa.
Makie is one of the representative decorative techniques of lacquerware. It involves drawing a picture or pattern with lacquer, and then sprinkling and adhering metal powder such as gold or silver before the lacquer hardens to create a decoration. It is called Makie because the picture is made by sprinkling powder.
It is delicate and beautiful, isn't it?
The artist's name is also engraved, of course.
It might also look good with a yukata.
Box design: Wooden storage box with handwritten text
Size: Approximately 6cm wide
This is an unused item, but it is a pre-owned item (or stored item). Please check the images and description carefully before purchasing.
If you have any questions, please feel free to ask.
Thank you for looking.
