1930s American Snap Cufflinks - Mother of Pearl Art Deco
Vintage cufflinks from the 1930s, made in America. These Art Deco cufflinks likely feature mother-of-pearl, black celluloid, and silver engraving. They are snap-style cufflinks, designed to be attached to the cuff before putting your arm through the sleeve, and then snapped closed. This excellent mechanism combined the aesthetics of a double-faced cufflink with convenience, but it didn't catch on and was discontinued after the 1940s, making these a rare find today. The mother-of-pearl inlaid in the face changes brightness depending on the light, and is characterized by its beautiful luster. It's a material often used for formal wear, but the natural texture is lovely, making it suitable for everyday use as well. ● Condition There are minor scratches, dullness, slight soiling, and discoloration of the metal due to age, but the item is in good condition considering its age. The snap mechanism functions firmly. Note that the snap is considerably tighter than a typical clasp. The cufflinks have been cleaned before listing, so you can use them immediately upon arrival. ● Notes ・The width of the green part of the face is not uniform and has slight unevenness when viewed closely. Please be aware that this is a minor detail, less than 1mm. ・Due to the design, snap-style cufflinks may come undone during use if the shirt cuffs are too tight. Before purchasing, please ensure that your shirt cuffs have enough room to hold the snap together when the cuffs are brought together. ・These are not made of precious metals such as sterling silver.
