This is a handmade Kuma Odoshi (bear deterrent).

Kuma Odoshi is a tool used to alert bears to your presence by setting off firecrackers or similar devices to create a loud noise, thereby avoiding encounters. It is used during activities such as foraging for wild vegetables, mountain climbing, stream fishing, and mushroom hunting to prevent bear-related accidents.
This product is not intended to attack or repel bears, but solely for the purpose of alerting them to your presence.

[How to Use Kuma Odoshi]
- Prepare firecrackers: Set the firecracker so that its fuse protrudes from the tip of the tube, then light and use it. Use one firecracker at a time.

Since the Kuma Odoshi has a tubular structure, the sound is amplified compared to using firecrackers alone, allowing the sound to be effectively projected around the user and in their direction of travel.
