The reeds are finished to a playable state after being tested, sterilized with ethanol, and then further sterilized with 254nm UV light before delivery.

3. Reed Shaper
Rieger KOR (Tip Width: 15.60mm)
This shaper was developed by Norwegian bassoonist Kristian Oma Ronnes. Its tip width of 15.60mm is slightly narrower than the Thunemann.
The shape of the blade's sides is nearly straight, but slightly convex near the tip, differing slightly from the Thunemann, which has a concave curve overall.
This combination appears to provide the stable high-register response and dark, rounded tone quality demanded by principal players.
