Although initially created as a placeholder program, it gained popularity through various unconventional and daring projects by unknown young comedians, such as no-appointment location shoots, hitchhiking journeys, and prize money living. At its peak, it recorded a viewership rating of 30.4 percent, and is considered one of the programs that supported Nippon Television's golden era in the 1990s.
