■Instrument Body
Product Description
This is the Imperial model cornet, manufactured from the 1970s to the 1980s. It is a long cornet used in jazz and brass band music, often referred to as the American type. Yamaha, a comprehensive musical instrument brand boasting a diverse lineup, currently only produces short models, and long cornets are no longer manufactured.

While short cornets, with their more curved tubing, produce a characteristically mellow tone, long cornets have less curved tubing and offer a brighter sound closer to that of a trumpet. For this reason, they are often used by jazz trumpeters as a secondary instrument, and their sound character differs from that of a trumpet.

It is in B♭, has an L bore, a red brass bell, and a lacquer finish. This Imperial model features a red brass bell, commonly known as the red bell due to its higher copper content, and a bell diameter of 131mm (actual measurement), larger than that of a trumpet, indicating a focus on tone quality. It is recommended for those looking for a secondary instrument or for beginners starting out with brass instruments.

The slides and pistons move smoothly.
While there is some minor lacquer peeling, there is no significant damage such as dents, and the inside of the tubing is clean.
The piston felts have been replaced with new ones in all three positions.
The piston button inlays have been replaced with Release Tone red agate silver-plated silky type (list price: ¥23,100). The finish is elegant.
