1800s Victorian photo album with brass sunflower and mirror 50 cabinet photos
This is a really special photo album from the late 1800s that has protected precious family memories for over 100 years! The binding is made of a padded fabric- gold and brown velvet (some of which has rubbed off). The top is adorned with repousse' brass suflower and framed beveled mirror. The ornate brass clasp is missing the part that attaches the two sides. The interior is comprised of 18 cardboard pages with gold edges and framed opening in which you slide photographs. On the first page under the right picture you can see gold printing which says Patented January 23, 1894. The pages are double sided so there are 36 sides in which to put pictures. Some hold two and some hold three pictures. The pictures are all in good condition - a few more faded than the rest. Some of the paper surrounding the pictures has torn a bit. The mirror has some discoloration on the left side. Overall, this is a really nice antique item to display, or enjoy replacing with your own family pictures. It is also a great resource from which to learn about fashions and hairstyles of the day. Measurements Height 12 Width 9 Depth 2.5
