Discontinued Rare Work!! Not on DVD! "The Sun is a Madman" (1961) VHS Video
This is a VHS tape of the drama Taiyo wa Kuruu (The Sun is Mad), co-starring Mitsuo Hamada and Sayuri Yoshinaga.
Despite being a masterpiece, it has inexplicably never been released on DVD (compliance issues?) and is not available for streaming, making it a rare find.
It's also out of stock on Amazon and difficult to obtain!!

Synopsis
Based on the original story by Shinji Fujiwara, the screenplay was written by Nobuo Yamada, who also worked on Taiyo, Umi wo Someru (The Sun Dyes the Sea), and directed by Toshio Masuda.
Cinematography by Masaku Himeda, also from Taiyo, Umi wo Someru.
This unique drama depicts two young men who become entangled in a vortex of murder and conspiracy due to a twist of fate, ultimately struggling and perishing within it.
Keiichi Yashiro, a high school student preparing for his university entrance exams next year, finds his next class canceled for self-study. He invites his old friends Fujiyama and Matsumoto to a billiard hall. However, at the hall, Keiichi gets into trouble with two delinquent students and, in a fit of anger, injures one of them with a cue stick. Tsune, a local yakuza punk, relentlessly pursues Keiichi, who flees in a panic. Tsune intends to extort Keiichi using the injury as leverage, but both end up fleeing from the approaching patrol car. After managing to shake off their pursuers, the two quench their thirst at a beer garden and find themselves hitting it off. Tsune invites Keiichi to his usual haunt, a bar called Ce Moreau. There, Keiichi encounters delinquent students Maeda and Jiro, as well as Tsune's older brother figure, Sawayama. Feeling like he's in a different world, Keiichi is zoned out and gets into trouble with a trio of delinquents in the restroom where another patron is present. However, Tsune skillfully rescues the situation. That night, on his way home, Keiichi imitates Tsune's yakuza mannerisms in a park. A couple who happened to be there mistakenly believes they are being threatened and reports it to the police. As a result, Keiichi is taken to the police station and expelled from high school.
