The warmth of wood and

Mokuzogan
Mokuzogan is a wood art technique that expresses paintings and patterns using various natural woods.
In the Hakone/Odawara region, this technique was newly developed around the middle of the Meiji period by attaching a sewing machine saw to a thread saw machine. Patterns are cut out according to a drawing on a base plate, and similarly shaped cut-out pattern materials are fitted in to create paintings and designs.
The completed pieces are called tanaita (seed plates) and are thinly shaved with a special large plane to create products. This technique is a valuable traditional craft technique that is unique in the world.
