Chrysanthemum was originally designed as a wallpaper by William Morris in 1877 with winding blooms against a foliage background. This ornate design was originally printed using wood blocks to imitate Japanese Leather papers. Chrysanthemums symbolize longevity, joy, optimism and friendship. In Japan, it is the official seal of the emperor representing the sun and perfection.
