Shikikachōzu (Four Seasons Flower and Bird Illustrations) Design Large Furoshiki Fabric
⚫︎ I believe this was purchased at the Tokyo National Museum about 40 years ago.
(I don't clearly remember the exact purchase date.)
This is a large furoshiki featuring a design from Sakai Hōitsu's Shikikachōzu, which has been kept new and unused.
⚫︎ Size: Approximately 85 x 91 cm
⚫︎ As it is a slightly thin cotton fabric, there are folding creases from storage. However, it has been carefully stored and has no other damage or stains.
I am listing it as is, in its unused storage condition, without ironing.
⚫︎ Due to its large size, it can be used not only as a furoshiki, covering, or closet cover, but also as an interior accent, rug, or framed artwork.
⚫︎ I have collected various items from my visits to art museums and galleries, but I am now selling them as part of decluttering. This is also recommended for collectors!
⚫︎ I believe it would also make a wonderful gift for someone overseas.
⚫︎ Sakai Hōitsu (1761-1828)
Born in Edo as the second son of the lord of the Himeji domain, Sakai family. He was proficient in various arts such as haiku and waka, and studied many painting styles. He was deeply influenced by Ogata Kōrin and became the founder of the Edo Rinpa school. He left behind works of delicate beauty and lyrical depth.
His representative works include Important Cultural Property: Summer and Autumn Grasses Screen and Scroll of Flowers and Birds of the Four Seasons.
⚫︎ No pets or smokers in the household.
⚫︎ This item was purchased as a limited edition at the time, so it is likely a discontinued product that is no longer sold and may be a rare, hard-to-find item. (Details are unknown.)
Although it is new, please understand that there may be creases due to age and storage. Those seeking perfect condition should refrain from purchasing.
Please forgive any minor oversights.
⚫︎ Please refrain from negotiating the price.
