Embroidered Antique Fabric, Double Happiness Symbol, Wedding, Auspicious Pattern, Handmade Textile Craft
Thank you for looking. This is a piece of Chinese hand-embroidered fabric from approximately 50 years ago. In the center of the red fabric, the character 囍 (Double Happiness) is meticulously embroidered. The simple yet charming calligraphy, which looks a bit like the character 黄 (yellow) from a distance, is very striking. This 囍 is an auspicious symbol celebrating marriage, and it is an important motif used in weddings, signifying: ・The joy of union ・The bond between two families ・Prosperity of descendants The composition, with floral embroidery gently surrounding it, suggests it was used as a pillow decoration, bedroom adornment, or part of dowry items during that era. The stitches, each sewn by hand, have a subtle variation, giving it a warmth that machine embroidery lacks. We recommend it as an interior decoration, perhaps framed, or as an accent for Japanese-style or folk-art inspired spaces. As it is an old fabric, there are age-related stains, loose threads, and minor damage. We would be happy to offer it to someone who can appreciate these as part of its character. It is also suitable for collections, photography props, or shop displays.
