UFO Diary by Satoshi Kitamura Vintage 1991 UFO Diary Paperback Alien Space Adventure Book Satoshi Kitamura

A beautifully illustrated paperback children’s book by acclaimed Japanese artist and author Satoshi Kitamura. UFO Diary follows a small UFO lost in space that discovers Earth and befriends a curious child, leading to an imaginative journey across landscapes, cities, and the night sky in one unforgettable afternoon. The artwork is what truly makes this book special. Nearly every page features rich full-spread illustrations with deep blues, glowing starscapes, dreamy landscapes, and cinematic perspectives. The visual style feels very late-80s / early-90s in the best way — atmospheric, quiet, imaginative, and slightly surreal. It works equally well as a collectible illustrated children’s book, coffee table display piece, or inspiration source for sci-fi and fantasy art lovers. With the continued cultural fascination around UFOs, space exploration, and retro sci-fi aesthetics, this feels especially current again. Satoshi Kitamura’s work has also become increasingly collectible among fans of Japanese illustration and children’s book art. This is the First Sunburst edition from 1991. Not a true first edition.
