A very old kimono coat, dating back to the Meiji, Taisho, and early Showa eras.
It features a rather unusual fabric combination, with wool gabardine on the outside and satin on the inside.

The construction is of the highest quality for its time.
The buttonholes are all hand-sewn.
The stitching on the back of the collar is also carefully done.

And, the slightly relaxed silhouette of the collar, combined with the design, makes it easy to incorporate into modern mode styles.

I think this is truly a fusion of Japanese and Western styles, made during a time when Japan opened its doors and the cultures of Japanese and Western clothing intermingled.

While the wool fabric is similar to that used by Comme des Garcons and Yohji Yamamoto, the wide sleeves are reminiscent of Issey Miyake.
