【USED】Inverness Coat / Tobikōto (Work Coat) - Meiji-Taisho Era
This item was passed down from an acquaintance, but I'm selling it because it felt too large for me.
It seems to have been stored with dehumidifiers and insect repellents, so there are no holes or signs of moth damage at all. I believe this condition is very rare for its age.
The lining is a khaki olive color with an iridescent sheen, and the outer fabric appears to be a tightly woven black wool. The back style is made from a single large piece of fabric without any seams, suggesting it was a very expensive item at the time.
The buttons are likely made of buffalo horn; I initially thought they were plastic, but it seems natural materials were commonly used back then.
There was probably fur attached to the collar, but it was not present when I received it.
Inside one of the pockets, there was a ticket (?), and upon research, I found that it bore the name of an organization that had ceased operations by the 1950s. Therefore, this coat is likely an antique from approximately the 1920s-1940s, at the latest.
It was custom-tailored at a clothing store that no longer exists today.
⚠︎ As this is an antique item, please only purchase if you understand and accept its age-related condition and any potential odors.
~Measurements~ (Please consider these as approximate as they are taken by an amateur)
〇 Outer part (Cape part)
Length: 81 cm (from the neckline)
Width: 150 cm (at the widest point when spread out)
〇 Inner part
Length: 135 cm
Width: 57 cm
When I, standing at 160 cm, wore it, the length was just short of dragging on the ground.
