The origin of the Kanreki (60th birthday celebration) is in Chinese culture. The combination of the ten celestial stems and the twelve earthly branches completes a cycle in 60 years, returning to the zodiac sign of the year of birth. It also means returning to the original calendar, and is considered a fresh start in life. At that time, there is a custom of giving a red chanchanko and hood, which have the meaning of warding off evil.

How about this for a longevity celebration?
