Knitted jumper, 'Chagall', designed by Jay Musson and Stephen Bennington, 1986 Jay Musson and Stephen Bennington were 1970s–1980s British fashion designers known for their avant-garde, handknit, and later machine-knit unisex knitwear. In the late 1980s, demand for their designs led Musson and Bennington to move production briefly to Italy. This jumper was machine-knitted in Italy for a global market, including stockists in America, Japan, Europe and Australia. Their designs are considered collectible examples of British fashion history, recognized for their innovative knit techniques. Their work is featured in the V&A Museum collections.
