Goshikimaku are five-colored cloth curtains hung at the entrances of Buddhist temple buildings, gates, and halls. They indicate that it is a temple and symbolize the widespread dissemination of Buddha's teachings throughout the world. While goshikimaku are primarily used as temple decorations, the same five colors have spread to other aspects of Japanese culture. They are used as decorative colors for temple main halls and gates during ceremonies, for the streamers of koinobori (carp streamers), for tanzaku (strips of paper) during Tanabata (Star Festival), and in the color schemes for Noh stages and sumo decorations.

There are other light stains like the one in the image, but they are not noticeable. The overall condition is good.
