Hakata Dontaku Shamoji (Good Luck Charm)

Wooden Shamozi (Rice Paddle) Set of 3

Used only once during a festival.
Stored at home, so please refrain from purchasing if you are concerned about minor details.

These are Dontaku Shamozi used at the Hakata Dontaku Minato Matsuri held annually in May in Fukuoka City, Fukuoka Prefecture.
Use: They are used in festival parades and on performance stages, danced to while striking them instead of musical instruments.

Good Luck Charm: They are also popular as good luck charms due to the wordplay shiawase o meshi toru (to scoop/take happiness), which sounds like meshi toru (to scoop rice).
