Awamori Datchibin (large bottle) Authentic Awamori Kusu (aged sake) Mizuho empty bottle

US Size:

This is a traditional Okinawan Awamori sake bottle, called Dachibin. Dachibin refers to a sake bottle that Okinawans would carry around with them, slung over their shoulder with a cord, so they could always have a drink.
The item shown in the photos is an actual bottle that once contained the authentic Awamori Koshu Mizuho.
The alcohol has been removed, but this ceramic bottle is called Ichiman-yaki and is made at a kiln located in Itoman City, in the southern part of Okinawa.
The clay used for the bottle is Okinawan clay, which is said to be the most compatible with Awamori. The kiln independently handles everything from raw material excavation to clay production and bottle manufacturing. Regarding clay excavation, the kiln meticulously selects clay suitable for aging Awamori, demonstrating their dedication.
Okinawan Dachibin have a long history and are even stored in the British Museum.
This bottle is a superb item on its own. How about adding it to your collection or using it as interior decor?
