This is a tasting set of Sasanishiki, Hitomebore, and Tsuyahime from the Reiwa 7 harvest! Limited quantity, special price.
Sasanishiki: A delicious contrast to Koshihikari.
Born in Miyagi Prefecture, it was the second most widely cultivated rice in Japan from the Showa to early Heisei eras, boasting overwhelming popularity and recognition as one of the two major premium brands alongside Koshihikari. However, due to its susceptibility to weather and difficulty in cultivation, production has decreased, and it is now sometimes called a phantom rice!
It is characterized by its subtle stickiness and sweetness, with a light, refreshing, and elegant flavor that melts in your mouth!
It pairs perfectly with Japanese cuisine (washoku) such as sushi, Japanese dishes, grilled fish, and simmered dishes, as it enhances the natural flavors of the ingredients.
Tsuyahime: Miyagi Prefecture's Tsuyahime has received the highest Special A rating 8 times in the past 9 years.
It is characterized by its large grains, white and glossy appearance when cooked, and excellent stickiness, sweetness, and umami, with a taste said to surpass even Koshihikari, the king of rice. Therefore, the rice itself is the star of the dish, and light-flavored side dishes pair exceptionally well. It also stays soft even when cold, making it ideal for bento boxes and onigiri. It has become a popular rice in recent years, and we want to deliver it to those who love white rice.
Hitomebore: Tome City's Hitomebore has received numerous Special A ratings in the past.
It was developed in Miyagi Prefecture by crossbreeding Koshihikari.
It has a good balance of stickiness, gloss, sweetness, and aroma, making it an all-purpose rice that goes well with various dishes.
It is delicious not only when freshly cooked but also when cold, with a chewy texture that makes it enjoyable in onigiri and bento boxes.
Equipped with a color sorter.
Stored in a refrigerated warehouse (13°C).
There may be a very small amount of spotted rice.
