Born in Finland in 1927, he is a renowned interior designer, industrial designer, and architect. He was active in a wide range of fields, from enamel pots to sauna stools and the design of the Metro train. He worked as a visiting professor and design consultant in various countries including Germany, Italy, and Japan, not just in Finland. He served as the chairman of the Finnish Designers Association from 1967-71 and as the chairman of ICSID from 1989-92.
