Blue Danube is a Japanese ceramic brand with approximately 50 years of history. It is a successor to the world-famous Blue Onion porcelain and is also known as the Japanese Blue Onion. Blue Onion originated in 1739 when J.D. Kretzschmer, who worked with the Meissen brand of ceramics produced in Meissen, Germany, invented a blue coloring agent for underglaze decoration, and pomegranate patterns were drawn.
