Royal Copenhagen Tranquebar Pot
This is a pot from the Tranquebar series by Royal Copenhagen.
This series is now discontinued. It was manufactured using a unique firing technique called faience, featuring tulip-like flowers hand-painted on a vibrant blue background. It's a beautiful pot that makes a statement just by being displayed.
The backstamp bears the mark of Aluminia, a pottery workshop that Royal Copenhagen acquired. As the current Royal Copenhagen mark was unified in 1969, this product dates from the 1950s-1960s, prior to that unification.
There are no chips or cracks, and it is a beautiful item with no signs of use, although it does have the characteristic crazing of faience pottery throughout.
Height: approx. 21cm
Width (widest part): approx. 11cm
Price is firm.
