【About Ibi River Stones】
Ibi River stones, as the name suggests, are suiseki found in the Ibi River.
These stones are historically significant, mentioned alongside Kamogawa stones and Setagawa stones, and are believed to date back to the Muromachi period, the era when suiseki originated.
After the construction of the Tokuyama Dam, regular water releases controlled the water level, preventing the river from becoming turbulent and increasing the water volume. This also eliminated the riverbed, making it virtually impossible to find suiseki today.
Therefore, it is unlikely that new, high-quality Ibi River stones will be found in the future, and the only way to acquire them is to obtain them from someone else.
