Pesticide-Free Happy Hill (Uruchimai) Seed Rice, 2kg, Upland Rice, with a 200g bonus of Black Rice Seed
Thank you for viewing.
Variety: 7th Year Harvest Happy Hill (Uruchimai) Unhulled Rice
Quantity: 2000 grams
Happy Hill is a variety developed by natural farming pioneer Masanobu Fukuoka. He crossed Burmese rice with Japanese heavy-headed rice varieties and repeatedly selected them over many years under the strict conditions of natural farming to stabilize the strain.
Mr. Fukuoka's goal was to create tough rice that grows solely by the power of nature.
Happy Hill's characteristics include its resistance to disease even without fertilizer or pesticides, its ability to grow as upland rice in fields, and its high yield with many ears per plant.
We first cultivated this variety using seeds purchased from Noguchi Seed Research Institute in 2022 and have continued to grow it until last year. No pesticides have been used at all.
【Important Notes】
The unhulled rice being offered is not specifically cultivated for seed.
It was grown in a paddy field in the 7th year of Reiwa (2025).
It has not been sorted or disinfected. We recommend that it be sorted by water flotation before planting.
Drying was done mechanically.
We have not tested the germination rate, but we have confirmed germination (see photos).
We estimate that 10-20% of the unhulled rice sent will float during water sorting. We will include approximately 30% more to compensate, but please refrain from purchasing if you require stable quality.
Happy Hill is a late-maturing variety. It is not suitable for cold regions such as Tohoku and Hokkaido.
Since 2023, we have been cultivating rice under the same conditions as this offering, performing water sorting (see photos), and growing the rice that sinks. We have been producing delicious rice.
We grow this rice in paddy fields, but last year, a neighbor successfully grew and harvested it in their field. They mentioned that they grew seedlings and then transplanted them.
● We also have 3kg, 1kg, 500g, 200g, 80g, and 50g quantities available.
We hope that this reaches those who need it and that the circle of Mr. Fukuoka's Happy Hill continues to expand.
We will also include 200 grams of unhulled rice of our 7th year harvest Asamurasaki (black glutinous rice) in the package ? It is said to be cultivable in fields, but we have no experience growing it in fields. Since it is pesticide-free, you can also enjoy it as pop rice. Please let us know if you do not want this included.
Thank you for your consideration.
Weeding from May to June is challenging, but once you get past that, you can ride the momentum of Happy Hill ?
