Meiji Era Merchant House Pocket Watch - Overhauled and Working
Purchased for interior decoration, but no longer needed, so I am offering it for sale. A merchant house clock from the Meiji era, from the German trading company Letz & Co. (Fr. Retz & Co.). Engraved with a bow and arrow mark on the inside of the case back. This is a clock over 115 years old. The movement has 13 jewels. ■Diameter/Weight Diameter: 51.6mm Weight: 92.0g Pressing the crown will cause the case back to pop open. When the case back is opened, the movement is covered by a glass cover. To set the time, push in the protrusion at the 1 o'clock position with your fingernail while turning the crown. ⚠️Caution The silver innocence case has many small scratches and thin dents (Photo 2). The plating on the ring is also peeling (Photo 3). I purchased it last year as having been overhauled, and it runs smoothly when placed flat and not vibrated. However, as it is an old watch, it is sensitive to vibration. It may stop when carried around. (It will start moving if shaken, but please handle with care.) For maintenance details, please refer to the seller's information. - Disassembly, cleaning, and lubrication performed. - Rust removal. - Repairs made if there were any defects upon acquisition. - If any parts were missing, they were supplemented with stock items or custom-made as much as possible. - If inappropriate parts were used in past maintenance, they were replaced with appropriate parts as much as possible (e.g., screws with different sizes/pitches). - Operation confirmed. - Accuracy measured using a timegrapher in three positions (flat, dial down, vertical) and adjusted. Basically, all three positions are adjusted to be within ±3 minutes per day. - Dial up (flat): -5 seconds - Dial down: +7 seconds - 12 o'clock up (vertical): -97 seconds The accuracy when fully wound (daily rate) is as measured by the timegrapher.
