Giant Arum Tuber (Corm)
The Greater Calla Lily (Oohange) is a perennial plant in the Araceae family, characterized by its corms (bulbs) measuring 3-5 cm in diameter. It grows wild in the damp forest floors of Honshu (from the Chubu region westward) to the Amami Islands, and produces a bright green spathe in early summer. Unlike the Japanese Jack-in-the-pulpit (Arisaema serratum), it is distinguished by the absence of bulbils on its petioles. The corms go dormant in winter as the above-ground parts wither.
