For m*o: Nari-ran (Ground Orchid) Arundina, Grass Orchid

This terrestrial orchid is found in the Ryukyu Islands (Ishigaki Island and Iriomote Island) in Japan. In Southeast Asia, there are various species, subspecies, etc. of the same type growing wild.
Due to extensive development, wild species on Ishigaki Island are now found only in limited areas, making them difficult for the general public to find. It is a very resilient plant, but it seems to be one of the plants that has been pushed out by urbanization. Its appearance swaying in the wind in grasslands is wonderful.
I have visited this place many times to see this scenery.

The color shown in the image is what grows wild in Japan. Individuals from Okinawa Island are considered outliers. Outliers can also be found growing wild on Ishigaki Island and Iriomote Island, which can be confusing. Please be aware of this.

This individual was sampled on Ishigaki Island around 1990. The plant is divided every few years. How about taking this opportunity?

Rest assured, even cuttings will root.
It can overwinter outdoors as long as it is not exposed to freezing temperatures.
