Recommended ways to eat it: Tempura: This is the most popular way to eat it. Lightly frying it mellows its unique bitterness and enhances its aroma. Ohitashi/Aemono (Blanched/Dressed dishes): Lightly boil and then rinse in water before cooking. Boiling calms the aroma, and you can enjoy its crisp texture. Kakidōshi Tea: Pour hot water over dried leaves (air-dried) for a refreshing herbal tea. It is also known by its medicinal name, Rensenso. Stir-fries/Pasta: There are recipes that use it as a pasta ingredient instead of basil, or stir-fry it with oil and mix it with rice.
