【①】Okawakame - Bare Root Seedling, Bulb, Rhizome, Yunnan Baiyao

US Size:

This is a plant of Okawame (Okinawa spinach).
The leaves have started to emerge from the plants that were overwintered in planters.
I planted mine at home for both consumption and as a green curtain, so I'm offering some to those who are interested.

These are not mukago (aerial tubers), but rather the underground stems that have thickened in the soil.
This is a plant with incredible vitality that can also be propagated from cuttings, so you could even divide and plant them.

While Fourth Class mail is an option, it takes time, so I plan to ship via Yu-Packet Post Mini.
Please note that the vines may break, the root nodules may detach, or they may dry out during shipping, but this will not affect their ability to be planted.

Now is the perfect time! (*^^*)
You can eat them as early as a few weeks from now until around autumn.

Akazakazura (Red vine)
A perennial vine of the Basellaceae family.
It produces heart-shaped, succulent leaves and aerial tubers.
Okawame (Okinawa spinach)
Unnan Hyakuyaku (100 Yunnan medicines)
Ryukyu Hyakuyaku (Ryukyu 100 medicines)

When boiled, it becomes slimy and has a texture similar to wakame seaweed. It can be used in vinegared dishes, blanched dishes, or as an ingredient in miso soup. Try stir-frying it with sesame oil and ponzu sauce.
Its nutritional value is high among leafy vegetables, rich in folic acid, magnesium, calcium, vitamin A, and minerals.
