Suhandam Kashitamamushi Specimen

Suhandae King Jewel Beetle Calodema suhandae

Extremely Rare and Unique Item: A Jewel Beetle that Shines Green to Purple Depending on the Light Source

Japanese Name: Suhandae ōsama Mukashi Tamamushi
Scientific Name: Calodema suhandae
Collection Location: Mt. Arfak, Papua, Indonesia

This is a very beautiful jewel beetle, reported as a new species of Calodema by Nylander in 2004. It is extremely difficult to collect, and despite being a rare and popular species, supply has consistently failed to meet demand. For this reason, it is a very expensive insect specimen, but some people purchase it as an investment or as a rare jewel insect.
