This is the raw wood material, untreated with any chemicals. Originally intended for wrapping food, but this listing is not for food contact applications, so please use at your own discretion. The seller uses them for bento box dividers, food wrapping, lining for fried foods, as lids for simmering fish, and placing under simmered fish. Placing one sheet on top of a bento box can also help prevent food poisoning. Wiping with a damp cloth before use will make them easier to handle.

This is a material that humanity has utilized for thousands of years worldwide as a wise method to impart a delicious and safe aroma. In Japan, there is a culture of enhancing flavor by transferring the scent of wood using taru-sake (sake aged in wooden barrels) and ohitsu (wooden rice containers). Alpha-pinene, found in coniferous trees, is a natural aromatic compound in wood and acts as an antibacterial agent.
