This is wood ash from oak, sawtooth oak, and cherry wood, harvested from the rich satoyama of Mie Prefecture.
No lighter fluid is used; kindling is made from kuromi oak twigs.
The meticulous owner sifts the ash about three times before packaging it in double plastic bags and a cardboard box for shipping.
Uses include:
Ash for hibachi (braziers)
Ash for incense burners
Glaze for pottery
Dyeing
Removing bitterness from vegetables, etc.
This is not fertilizer.
