Makita HR244D Hammer Drill - Junk

The photo shows it with the box, but I'm thinking of selling just the main unit to save on shipping costs.
I sent it in for repair, but it was too expensive, so I bought a new one. It does not rotate.
According to the manufacturer, the controller is broken.
However, when I attach the battery and try to turn it on, it moves slightly.
As an amateur, I tried to test it, and when I attach the battery and turn it with the housing lid removed, it moves. So I suspect a poor connection, but I'm not sure about the details...
