[Tombo Yo-gasa Maehara Koe Shoten]
A parasol manufacturer founded in 1948 in Kuramae, Taito-ku. Utilizing the skills of experienced craftsmen, they continue to create Made in Japan parasols with a focus on materials, details, and tailoring.
Maehara Koe Shoten, also renowned as a brand favored by the Imperial Household, creates parasols that are not just tools to protect from rain, but attire that creates a style for rainy days and makes rainy days enjoyable. Their characteristic is that all four processes – weaving the fabric, assembling the ribs, cutting and sewing the fabric, and making the handle – are meticulously done by hand.
The outer side features a lattice pattern with ruffles along the edge, and the inner side has a kawazu-bari construction.
Kawazu-bari is a technique where, in addition to the regular outer fabric, a second layer of fabric is attached to the inside, covering the umbrella ribs. This is called kawazu-bari because the overlapping part of the two fabrics resembles a frog's webbed foot.
The design, with the umbrella ribs covered by fabric, adds an extra layer of elegance, and you can also enjoy the combination of the inner fabric's pattern subtly showing through the outer fabric.
Color: Green系
Pattern: Pattern
Stains, tears, odors, etc.: None
