This listing is for Beetle Mat, specifically designed for Kabutomushi egg-laying. (Please see the 3 photos included.)
This product is a fully matured, specialized egg-laying mat made from 100% high-quality oak sawdust, which Kabutomushi beetles prefer. It is slowly and specially fermented indoors.
The additives used in the fermentation process are minimized, making it specifically formulated for egg-laying.
To mimic a natural environment, we use sawdust that has been decomposed through microbial treatment, which enhances the Kabutomushi's egg-laying drive and promotes prolific breeding.
Furthermore, we do not use any spent substrate, ensuring 100% freedom from mixed-in pests.
Common inexpensive mats are made from spent substrate after mushroom cultivation, which is then fermented outdoors. This makes them prone to contamination with pests like nematodes, earthworms, and fungus gnats, which can cause them to appear during breeding.
Our fermented mat is made by fermenting fresh oak sawdust indoors under strict control for an extended period. This eliminates concerns about pests, and the mat can be used immediately without heat or freezing treatment.
