Yamamoto Hisashi Edo Mame Hagoita (Bean-shaped Battledore) - Mandarin Ducks, Beautiful Appearance, True Dream - Kabuki, Jōruri (Ballad Drama), Hanazono Manju (Flower Garden Steamed Bun), Yoshitoku, National Treasure

This is likely something that Shinjuku Hanazono Manju, famous for its Nure-Amanatto (sweetened dried beans), used to give to its regular customers every New Year's.

Hagoita board length: approximately 18 cm
Original artwork by Yamamoto Hisashi, a master of theatrical paintings.
Production and supervision by Yoshitoku, Asakusabashi, a long-established doll maker, and Tokubei Yamada.
In commemoration of the Year of the Rooster, it depicts the spirit of the dance Oshidori (Mandarin Ducks).
It has been stored in a cabinet at my parents' home and is in beautiful condition, but the box shows signs of age, such as handwritten characters for Rooster, scratches, and faint dirt.
