A Kyo-tsukue (Buddhist altar table) is a small table, about 20-30 cm high, placed in front of a Buddhist altar. It is used to place Buddhist scriptures for chanting, as well as a stand for Buddhist ritual objects such as incense burners, bells, and incense holders, and offerings. There are traditional black and vermilion lacquered types, as well as those made of exotic woods and modern designs, and functional types with folding legs or drawers are also common.
