Red Fire Ammonite Fossil Madagascar Specimen Iridescent Suture Pattern

US Size:

Ammonite (Red Fire Ammonite)

Scientific Name: Cleoniceras sp.
Period: Cretaceous Period of the Mesozoic Era
(Approximately 145 million to 66 million years ago)

Origin: Ambarimaninga, Majunga, Madagascar

Purchased at a mineral show.
Selling due to collection consolidation.

This ammonite emits a strong red flash.
The fire effect is caused by iron oxides and silicates in the stratum thinly adhering to the surface of the ammonite shell, with fine cracks exhibiting an opal-like fire. Due to the iridescence effect, it glows red depending on the angle.

You can also enjoy the beautiful suture line patterns.
Suture lines are the external appearance of the internal skeletal structures called septa that divide the ammonite's interior, forming complex linear patterns.

It is also called Kikuseki (chrysanthemum stone) because it resembles chrysanthemum leaves.
As this is a natural product, there may be some peeling or minor scratches on the surface due to polishing.

Immediate purchase is welcome!

Please note that colors may vary depending on your monitor.
Thank you for your understanding.

I also have other natural stones for sale.
Please take a look if you'd like.
