CD74HC4067 CMOS 16-Channel 16 CH Multiplexer
Description
CD74HC4067 CMOS 16-Channel Digital Analog Multiplexer Breakout Module for Arduino
This is a very useful 16-channel analog/digital multiplexer/demultiplexer CD74HC4067 on a circuit board.
This chip is internally routed to one of the 16 channel pins CHANxx to the common pin COM on the board, similar to a rotary switch.
It can be connected to both digital signals and analog signal voltages that do not exceed VCC, depending on the function.
By connecting the 4 digital output address selection pins S0-S3 of the chip, you can send the binary address of the channel you want to select (see datasheet).
This allows you to connect up to 16 sensors using only 5 pins of your system.
This MUX/multiplexer can also be used with digital signals to pipe TTL-level serial data to multiple devices. For example, you can connect the TX pins of 16 devices to one RX pin on your microcontroller. You can then select which of those 16 devices you want to listen to.
For bidirectional communication, you would want to add another board to route the TX line of your microcontroller to the RX lines of 16 devices.
By using multiple boards, you can create similar sites like I2C, SPI, etc.
The internal switch is bidirectional between ground and VCC, supports low voltage, has low on resistance and low off leakage, and can be used for switching to avoid crosstalk. The chip has an enable pin that can be driven high to completely disconnect all switches off from the common pin.
Features:
1. 2V to 6V operation
2. 70 ohm on resistance @ 4.5V
3. 6ns switch @ 4.5V
